Mexico's Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA by its Spanish acronym) and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) signed a collaboration agreement for 2015 to jointly operate the Sustainable Modernization of the Traditional Agriculture (MasAgro).
Jesús Aguilar Padilla, Mexico’s Subsecretary of Agriculture, said that CIMMYT is an important partner for SAGARPA in the pursuit of two objectives that President Peña Nieto considers a priority for Mexico’s agriculture: increase food production and alleviate poverty.
Leaders of the largest economies in the world and international development experts met in Frankfurt in March to discuss how to implement climate smart financial inclusion policies and practices to benefit micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the agricultural sector.
